i went to a sprint store today and checked out the 5300 and 8100, but i
still can't decide! the 5300 was my first choice, until i realized the 8100
is pretty much the same (and much smaller)...i don't care about the
camera...any advice about *how* to pick between the two? i'm not really
looking for spec comparisons, since i've asked for that already, but maybe
someone has a suggestion for a manner in which to pick a phone that might
make my choice more obvious/easier, etc. i just can't decide between the
    two....

John, it's up to you ... on which phone feels more comfortable to hold, etc.
Just pick one ... and enjoy.

John, have you considered the VM 4500? It is a bit more expensive but if it
is in your budget you may really like it. I purchased one a couple of weeks
ago because I liked it so much. It is now an add-a-phone on my account.
The reception is GREAT. The operation of the phone has been rock solid.
The camera/camcorder works surprising well ( I was a bit impressed at the
clarity considering it is a phone first). I give it an overall thunbs up.
Just my .02 cents. Good luck and enjoy.
