I noticed two things about the SPCS Nokia 3588i tonight. One, the manual
has a number of blanks in the beginning so new Sprint customers can
write in their pertinent account information. Page seven is for
customers with Vision plans. Why is that there?
Second, the phone seems to have a sim card slot, complete with metal
contacts. Why would that be there? I can see molding one plastic part
for several models, including the upper guides for the sim. They've also
installed the lower metal retaining clip and the metal battery/sim
interlock that prevents the removal/insertion of a sim when the battery
is installed. Why install a complete sim card socket in a CDMA phone?

Because that "manual" has several generic sections included=20
in it. Simple as that.

Because Nokia is using designs across several different=20
model lines. Technically, if it worked, that slot would be=20
called "R-UIM", I think. But it doesn't.
