Consumer Reports in its February 2004 AGAIN rates SprintPCS service the
worst of all major cellular providers.
It's stock has gone up lately (23% in December) but thats as an
arbitrage bet that SprintPCS will soon be bought out.

Ole Phillipe sure likes to hang his hat on a very flawed report ...

Not according to Wall Street- you should read more.
So far, you've been wrong on all counts:
Sprint has not felt the effects of WNLP
They no longer have the worst customer service
ATT has come out as the first buyout candidate, not Sprint
Sprint financial performance for the 4th quarter has not gone into the
toilet
Sprint churn did not sky rocket- but I'l bet ATT's did
All of your rantings over the last six months have proved what we've been
saying all along- you have no clue about anything to do with cellular. And
everytime I read another real horror story on the ATT group, I do laugh my
ass off. You switched to a provider that makes Sprint look like the model
of efficiency and customer service (I know they're not, but ATT is much
worse). Someone who spouted so much crap here for all those months probably
should have done his homework.

Still stung by the failed short of PCS stock? Your attempt at rumor
starting failed once, don't screw yourself again.
BTW ... all the posts and online reviews I have seen lately show that
AT&T Wireless fails in coverage (GSM only) and customer service
(especially considering porting). How is the stint with your new
provider going?

Consumer Reports is not known to specialize in technology reviews.

That report is so unscientific and flawed, it's laughable. They sent=20
out 100,000 emails to their online subscribers. No attempts at finding=20
out who has service, where. Just a generic, ill-defined survey with no=20

Re: Once again ... SprintPCS service is the worst.
I think most of the stuff Consumer Report puts out is dead on. Sprint
just doesn't know how to take care of customers. They have developed
a bad rap because they hire stupid people to work for them who
straight out lie to good customers. CR just backs up my personal
feelings, Sprint screwed me over, lied to me, had me deal with morons
and wasted my time.

Yeah, but if CS was actually any good it still wouldn't give you a bad
survey. All sending it out via email would do is skew it toward affluent
families and 100,000 is not awful. You only need 10 Sprint subscribers
to know that CS is awful there. I don't see how this would skew Sprint's
CS anyway.
Sprints CS IS the worst. AT&T's has recently gotten as bad, but please
remember that Sprint's CS has always been awful (in fact, it has
improved a little bit over the years, from say 3 years ago, from like an
F to a D-). In contrast AT&T's only recently got bad. So I think if
someone called and surveyed me (and I have had both Sprint and AT&T for
a long time) I would probably say Sprint is worse, even though right at
this instant in time AT&T is worse, in part because of the poorly
handled transition to GSM.
Also, the "let's make a deal" attitude at Sprint CSR and various
promises people make on the phone doesn't win them any friends either.
AT&T did not used to do this but recently started and I am sure this is
annoying customers too.
Actually Sprints CS is SO BAD, I can't think of another company or
organization that is as bad. For example, the customer service at the
DMV or electric company is better and they are truly awful.

Because its not the worst NOW. It was, but the intelligent tend to live in
the present, not the past.

Poor GSM transition, a continuous stream of serious billing software issues
since October, hold times measured in hours and the portability black hole
of the universe. These are just a few of the MAJOR issues mentioned by ATT
customers in the last three months, and this does not appear to be a
temporary set of circumstances- in fact, things are getting worse, not
better.

So again, ATT is doing something that makes Sprint bad in your eyes.
Doesn't that make them just as bad?

Try ATT, if you can get someone to answer the phone.

How did you arrive at this conclusion? From what I saw AT&T was ranked
last in more markets than Sprint was.

Of course, you probably had to swerve 47 times before it happened. You
probably also have incriminating video tape of techs cheering when you
finally manage to flip the phone open.
