Re: Data cable for internet, stalling out?
You pay for unlimited service *on* the phone, not *through* the
phone to some other device.
Perhaps you could make a case for use *through* one of the phones
that have pocket pc or win ce as their op. system and you are paying
$30/mo for Vision.

Hmmm indeed. *You* quoted 40 lines of *unsnipped* text, including even
the signature. If you are so lazy and inconsiderate as NOT to snip and
just quote the relevant parts, then you *should* top post. Readers of
this thread had to scroll down through that quoted mess just to read
your 8 line response, three of which was the above.
It's not the newsreader you use, it's *how* you use it that makes one's
ignorance stick out like a sore thumb.

Re: Data cable for internet, stalling out?
Then the ability to run data should not be in the hardware of the phone.
If you put a bannana tree in the monkey cage what do you think will happen?

Re: Data cable for internet, stalling out?
If Sprint ever started enforcing this provision on casual laptop users,
I'll be switching to T-Mobile in a heart beat. T-Mobile doesn't charge
extra for GPRS internet access.
BTW, don't bother chastising me for top posting. I don't like to scroll
through screen after screen of quoted text to get to the new text.
I already read the quoted stuff previously, so I don't need to waste time
by seeing it and scrolling through it again.

This is the ping I used when I had Sprint ping -l 1 -t yahoo.com
I was under the impression the data transferred was a very small amount and
I was not using much bandwidth. Was I wrong? DonnaB

Re: Data cable for internet, stalling out?
I am SO with you regarding top posting. I don't need to re-read all
the previously posted stuff. I MUCH prefer top posting.

Re: Data cable for internet, stalling out?
I am not sure. I am guessing their is "idle" data being sent as long as the
vision icons are solid.
pinging will keep them solid.
when I goto a website they go solid. a few moments after it loads they go
"dim" meaning no traffic but it ready when I want more.
IE I am reading the page and using "0" bandwidth (this is not possible on
wireless web or modem dial ups since they have to send something just to
maintain the connection) this makes it VERY effecient.
alas it can "stall" sometimes. its very much NOT a big deal and rarely
happens. I would rather have the stall than take a chance of them whacking
me.

Re: Data cable for internet, stalling out?
browsing and e-mail for me...large file downloads is what the land line
is for...sprint probably knows who's hogging bandwidth...
