In the standard places ... keyserver.net is one. It should be availble
in other locations soon if it is not already. I decided that it might
be wise to sign my posts because there are at least two people here that
occassionally pretend to be other people and at least once it has
happened to me. I will also send the key with this post.

If you have the PGP software installed, just search the ldap server for his
e-mail address that he used in the digital sig.

www.pgp.com the website with the software. Not sure of there is a free
    version available anymore though.....

Actually, I use GNU Privacy Guard ... it is free. There are license
issues and security problems, not to mention system stablity trouble
with the latest versions of PGP for Windows.

I have PGP for Macintosh and so far ( knock on wood ) don't have any issues.
I have older versions for both Winblows and Mac OS'es.

    But I digress Off-topic......... ;-)

I did and failed. Yet today, I tried to search the ldap servers again
    and succeeded.

Wouldn't everyone in the whole alt.cellular.sprinpcs usenet group have
to use pgp for all to know for sure who they were talking to?

This gets confusing. Wouldn't I have to download pgp to verify your
true identity? Did I read somewhere your public key is suposed to be
    sort of secret also?

You only need to use PGP to determine if the identity of who posted the
message is real. Essentially, it would only be required if in doubt.
However, I have been impersonated here once and others here have more
than once, so simply signing each message to this group pretty much
guarentees you can prove that it wasn't you that posted a fradulent
message, since the fraud would have no way of signing a message using your
    key.

If you were concered about verifing, then yes. Almost every PGP tool or
package has a populated list of common key servers to use for uploading,
signing, and verifying keys, one example is http://pgpkeys.mit.edu:11371
where Tom's is at. Most usenet software does not provide a hook into
PGP so you would have to do it manually. Worth it to some people.

PGP should be used more often but it tips the scales for most when
balancing ease of use and security. Catch-22 here also, not many people
use it or think they need it so most email apps and usenet readers do
not support it directly. If you use a native application that supports
it well directly or even a third party add-on for your application, the
PGP operation is seemless and works very good.

Did I read somewhere your public key is suposed to be
    > sort of secret also?
    >

No, that is why it is a public key

    Very basic PGP overview:
