USENET access using PCS connection card/laptop

I'm using the PCS connection card on a laptop:

I talked to a few Level Two tech support guys about accessing USENET
through the Newsgroup Reader bundled with Internet Explorer 6. The
first one didn't know what USENET was (?!), the second had to yell
over the top of his cubicle to come back with a negative.

Is this correct? If so, could someone recommend a paid USENET service
that would allow me to use the newsreader?

If my only option is a web-based service I think I'll stick with
Google Groups.

When traveling I just tunnel my usenet access back home over a ssh tunnel.
This allows me to use the free usenet access provided by my broadband
provider while on the road.

When not at home using Road Runner I use free news servers when traveling -
here is a good link as they change frequently

Text NewsGroups can always be read through Google for free, although it
is about 6 hours behind.
