No, it's from a 3rd party website that gives them for free download. The
tech person at my local Sprint store said that if I wanted to download I had
to free up memory. Trouble is, I've only downloaded a small amount of stuff
.... two screen savers (non-animated) and three ringtones.

Some websites "customize" the download for the particular phone being=20
used. The first people I'd ask about that download is the site=20
you're trying to get it from.

BTW, "customize" isn't literal. But they *do* code a bit differently=20
for the different browsers some of our newer phones use.

So maybe try a different ringtone and see what happens? I got one earlier
from their site and it worked fine. I've got a few others I'd love to get
from there too. BTW ... using the Sanyo RL2000, how do I upload MIDIs from
my PC to my phone? I downloaded a few ringtones as MIDIs and wanted to move
them to the phone. How can I do this?

Maybe three or four of 'em. It's possible that one ringer=20
is messed up, or not getting properly "transmitted" to the=20
phone. You might even consider finding one other site, or=20
take the plunge and buy one from SPCS, just to see if it'll=20
load up. You can always get a refund on it from the "My=20
Content Manager".

"personal" space (I.e. 3GUpload's "Locker") will enable=20
that for you. For a fairly small annual fee (or an even=20
smaller 6 month one), 3GUpload is my personal favorite.

You could also purchase a cable and software to do it=20
directly from your PC to your phone.

Thanks so much for all the helpful advice! I'm going to check into all of
these MIDI-making devices. But since you work for Sprint, can you tell me
one thing? How do they get the ringtones that sound exactly like songclips?
I didn't think MIDIs could do that?! My wife grabbed one from the Sprint
website of "Fighter" from Christina Aguilera and really wants that one
permanently and not just for 90 days.

Several sites actually have the procedure. I just use 3GUpload=20
myself.

Basically, convert the file (most likely MP3 format) to WAV format=20
with certain settings (the 3GUpload procedure mentions WinAmp, but I=20
actually use MusicMatch Jukebox. Any MP3 player that can convert as=20
desired will work). Cut out the piece you want to use, and convert=20
it to Qualcomm's "PureVoice" format with a tool that Qualcomm=20
provides for it.

Yes. Qualcomm provides the converter for free, and then you upload it.

What I found out today is that it takes a little work, but you can put a
file - graphic, ringer or Java2 Mobile Edition application - on the web,
point your phone's browser to it and download and install it rather easily.
There are some specific steps you have to follow, though. Having said that,
I'm planning on putting some stuff I will be creating on the web...

A Vision Account is the way to go here. Do all your downloads under your
free 2 month Trial.

If you use Vision, and delete all the factory supplied demo software,
you'll have ~ 800K available, and can fit many dozen ringtones in
downloaded over the internet.

If you're using FutureDial's SnapMedia and a USB cable, you are limited
to YES 3 (three) ringtones for downloading to your phone.

I'm just curious how much memory the Motorolas have. My Samsung 660 seems
to have about 1MB of memory for user-downloaded and default applications/
images/ringers.
