Sprint is trying to charge me for two international long distance
calls made from my home number last year. I've never had Sprint as a
long distance carrier, and have never approved any type of service
from them. I've indicated to them that it must be a mistake since I've
never had their services, but they basically said that their records
show the calls were made, the payment is due and basically it's my
responsibility.
Can they do this!?!
My concern is that these charges could potentially hurt my credit if I
choose to ignore them?
I don't even use my house phone for long distance since I have an good
deal through my cellular service provider (Verizon). :]
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Check the time/date of the calls. I bet you didnt even have that number when
they occured! Sprint's billing is such a joke that they are usually
late...months late.
Sprint pulled this **** with me too. I had just moved in and 3 months later
they want to charge me $35 for 2 calls to Israel. I told them I didnt make
them and will not pay. Then the calls started comming from a machine DAILY,
advising me to call Sprint ASAP as my bill was overdue.(BTW I have SBC for
LD).I callblocked them.
After a while I told them to send me a printed copy of the bill, they asked
for my address! I told them to send it to the address on file.
I called SBC and told them Im getting harassing calls..from Sprint, SBC
contacted them and told them they were never MY carrier and to cease and
desist..they finally did. No apologies, no admittance they did wrong..they
just slinked away....the CHICKEN-**** comapny that they are.

On both of these posts in this thread, there could be another reason, and
that is you do the internet via dial-up (and no, I didn't check either of
your IPs) and have malware loaded up on your computer that initiates
unwanted dialups to sites unknown ...

Thank you both. Actually I've lived here for two years, they said the
calls were sometime in November last year. As far as the internet
dial-up, I actually have cable modem through Cox communications, who
also happens to be my phone service provider.
