We have Sprint service and my son's phone has a broken antennae. Will
spring let us upgrade to a newer style or will they try to insist on fixing
this one? Tried to upgrade earlier and they said we had to wait 18 months
to get the discounts but that was before the antennae was broken. He has
had the phone for 1 year. It seems to me that if it isn't working well
that they would rather him be spending his minutes rather than not bothering
    to use the phone.

See More: anyone know how to get a newer phone?

why Costco? You still would have to pay full price for a new one. I need
one of those with a rebate.

When does the Annual Agreement expire on the phone? If it's not on an AA
now, you can work with SPCS to get a rebate.

I purchased a Sanyo SCP-8100 at Costco for $169.00 about three months
ago. It came with the car chanrger, headset and belt clip which would
have fost you $80.00 alone at the Sprint store. All you have to do is
buy it, then call the Spring customer care number to have them take
you rold phone off your account and add the new one. No change is
    your plan is required.

Well, it doesn't sound like you have much leverage ... You might check eBay
to see what's available there. If you do find something that looks good,
make sure that the phone is cleared through SPCS, via the ESN. I only say
that, as lost or stolen phones, or phones with outstanding balances on them
will not be allowed to be activated on SPCS's system.

Sign up for the insurance. Its $4.00 a month. Wait the required 2 billing
cycles and tell them its broken and they'll send you a brand new one.
