    Folks,

I received Novatel Merlin C201 card for our company and I am trying to
install it on my laptop. Installation runs without any problem but when I
try to start the connection manager it gives me erorr that either my card is
already in use or it could not find the card.

I went through Sprint tech support and the guy walked me through some steps
    and I found that in

Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager

The Novatel device had "!" which meant that it was not able to find the
resources. The support guy mentioned that it was not able to find free IRQ.

There were couple of IRQs available. I also uninstalled Blue tooth device
and disabled internal modem to free up more IRQs but I am still having same
    problem.

Has anyone installed Merlin C201 card on XP Home edition SP1?

    Thanks.

Yes, I run it on Win XP home and used to have that same error message. This
    is the workaround I used:

Shut down the computer, take out the card, and then restart the computer
Wait till the desktop is fully reloaded and quiets down
    Then insert the card
    Then start the connection manager

For me that solved it, the only time I would get that error message was if I
had the card in when I booted the computer up and then tried to start the
    connection manager

In the last month, I had some major windows issues, and did a full recovery
/windows reinstall on the laptop with the recovery CD.

Installing the connection manager was one of the first programs I loaded in
afterwards, and have not had a problem since

That's what I have been doing. I always inserted card after booting
the computer, but it still has problem.

Well, it sounds like there may be a number of i subtle ssues that prevent
that card from working in your laptop.

What I can tell you is that I have the C201 on a Windows XP home edition
Toshiba laptop. When initially installed it exhibited the same problems you
report., except I was able to work around them Later, when I had to do a
complete windows recovery of the computer, the problem went away.

I don't know what your circumstances are, but, you might weigh the time
effort and frustration of trying to fix it with the effort it would take to
do a complete restore, and make the connection manager and card the first
thing that goes back in. (And set up a restore point once it works before
anything else gets reinstalled) This basically bypasses all the complicated
expert diagnosing and guesswork, and it sounds like you already have tried
the kinds of things I might otherwise suggest, like looking for IRQ
conflicts. A complete OS recovery is kind of drastic, but it worked for me.

Unfortunately, a complete OS recovery is not an option right now for me.

I had the same problems, I removed the card and reinstalled the software,
inserted the card and it worked fine.
I'm not sure if this will fix your issue but it is an easy thing to try.
You may try totally removing the software first.
