Since Sprint has acquired Nextel, what technology is used by Nextel? Is it
    CDMA?

I wonder if Sprint will attempt to convert the NExtel purchase to CDMA?

iDEN is an aging technology and Nextel is said to already have an iDEN to CDMA
bridge and wants to migrate to CDMA (over time). It's one of the reasons the
Sprint-Nextel merger is a good idea from the carriers' points of view.

I wonder if we will see a tri-mode nextel phone; iden, cdma, analog and
    of course dual band?

Never! That would enable customers to jump more easily from one carrier to
another--like back in the analog days, when the A and B carriers used the
    same technology.

Uhm, that's what subsidy locks are for.
