My family owns two Sprint phones.

Phone #1 is nearly three years old; works fine (Sanyo 4700, I think).
We're now going month-to-month on this phone ($30 bucks a month for 300
anytime minutes; free N&W). I could be persuaded to sign a contract if
    the new deal was right.

Phone #2 is nine months old (Sanyo pic phone, I think); worked fine
until it was machine washed (and dried!) about 72 hours ago. $45 bucks
a month for 500 anytime minutes; free N&W...the contract has 15 months
    to go.

Oldest daughter has Phone #2; wife has Phone #1. Oldest daughter can't
    live without her phone.

Can I negotiate with Sprint...re-up our Phone #1 (in other words, sign
a new contract for Phone #1) and at the same time sweet-talk them into
a good deal on getting a replacement for Phone #2?

Any and all advice is sought...

Here's how I would approach it when you call CS or go down to the store.
Tell the rep that you want to do a new contract with both phones on one
contract (family plan) based on the wife's phone as the primary one. Get
credit for a $150 mail in rebate on a new phone. Do an ESN swap on the
phones so that the new phone goes to the daughter, and the 4700 goes to the
    wife.

Be advised that on one of the phones, the commitment will be 2 years. On the
other phone, the commitment would be 3 years and 3 months.

Now, in saying all that, I'd recommend going to your local SPCS store and
dealing with someone eye to eye.

Oh, and one more thing. If you have any accessory items for the Sanyo phone,
see if you can get another Sanyo to where you can use the accessories on the
new model, including the battery off the old unit, if at all possible.

Bob, I've surfed this site for years and read many of your posts.
Thanks for your many contributions. I have several questions. What is
an ESN swap? I've googled it...and need help. To reiterate: on phone
#1, we are month-to-month. On phone #2 (the one that is broken), we
have 15 months remaining on a $45 dollar per month contract. Thanks
    again. stlsports

An ESN swap is when the serial number of a phone is "swapped out" for
that of another on your account. In layman's terms, it means you're
changing the phone that your account is tied to.

Each phone has an Electronic Serial Number, or ESN for short, and that
is how Sprint indentifies your phone on the network. So in order to
change phones, the ESN of your old phone must be replaced, or "swapped,"
with the ESN of the new phone.

Thanks for those kind comments ... . Isaiah answered what the ESN swap is.
Basically, you want to set up a new account, and have the old phone as the
primary #, and then do an ESN swap between phones, so that you can get a
credit on a new phone. Like I said, it would probably be easier to do this
at a SPCS store. Print up my prior reply so that the rep or manager can
    understand what I'm saying.

alright here's what you can do, sign up for a new 2-year contract and
get the sprint fair&flexible plan for familie shared minutes at only
$80 with 800 shared minutes and you get to have unlimited sprint to
sprint calling entirely free!!! and if you go over the 800 shared
minutes, you 'll be charged only an additional of $5 for every
additional 100minutes. and if you have been using you phone currently
registered to sprint for atleast 18months you can get a new one for at
least half or less than half the retail price of any sprint phone and
get a $150 mail-in rebate mailed to you by check under your name!!!
