Recently in the news and going around by email are links to a/the Do
not Call Registry for cell phone numbers. Yet a few days ago I was
provided with a flyer, from a woman who is a sales agent for a Title
Company which stated that Cell Phone Numbers are never targeted or
provided, etc. The aspect of Cell Phone Number targeting is not the
issue, but the possible scam of some kind.

    At
    http://www.fcc.gov/

    a search for:

    do not call cell
    brings up :

    http://search.fcc.gov/query.html?qt=...&oq=&rq=0&si=0

and this is the site that one is sent to by the email going around :

    https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx

    Thoughts ?

But, if the other information from the FCC is valid, at:

    http://search.fcc.gov/query.html?qt=...&oq=&rq=0&si=0

    and includes info, such as:
"You may be one of many consumers who have received e-mails saying
you're about to be assaulted by unwanted telemarketing calls to your
cell phone. Rest assured that placing telemarketing calls to cell
phones is -- and always has been -- illegal in most cases."

    and
"Contrary to what some of the e-mail campaigns are now saying, the
Federal Government does not maintain and is not establishing a
separate Do-Not-Call Registry for mobile phones. The FCC and the
Federal Trade Commission set up the National Do-Not-Call Registry to
enable consumers to reduce the number of unwanted telemarketing calls
to their phones. The Registry covers both traditional (wired) and
wireless (mobile) phones. The Registry is nationwide in scope and
applies to all telemarketers, with the exception of certain non-profit
    organizations."

(these are from the first items in the above search URL at the FCC
    site)

If the above is accurate, why would there be a function such as the do
not call list for Cell Phones ? Just to double make sure ?

Robo-dialed automated phone calls to pagers, cell phones and other devices
where you pay per call or per minute have been illegal since 1991. (The law
involved in this case would be 47 USC 227)

Non-automated calls... I'm not so sure about that.

No need - the current one will work just fine; I registered my landline AND
    cell phone numbers there.

    Exactly.

There isn't a separate one. Use donotcall.gov, it works for both landline and
    cellular.
