New treo coming for sprint?

I was just at the Sprint store looking at Treo 650. The sales guy told me to
wait couple of week as new Treo phone was supposed to be out.

Is there any truth to it?

Maybe he's refering to palm's new windows based treo. Expect it to
make more than a few weeks and to be unstable as hell for the next year
worth of updates. It'll also be dog slow; windows needs gigahertz
processors to do what palmos does with 33mhz-66mhz processors.

They've just discounted the Treo 650 by something like $150, so there probably
is something to it. I wouldn't put much stock in his timeline, though --
Sprint is notorious for late with actually getting new phones onto the
shelves.

I heard the new Treo 700p isn't scheduled to hit stores until March, which
is moved forward from January. I saw it on a site somewhere. I think it was
here.

I, for one, will wait until the 700p comes out. I was going to buy a 650 but
whenever I buy some thing big like this a new model always comes out within
couple of weeks so I thought this time I would do a little investigating on
the new fisrt and this is what I came up with.

The new treo is the 700w...it's suppose to be just around the corner for sprint. As for PALM...it's already available.

That is most-likely not the model the sales droid was informed about:
it's the Palm version (700p). After reading about the 700w (NY Times' "A
Marriage Not Made in Heaven" and WSJ's "A New Palm Treo Uses Microsoft's
Software, But It Doesn't Beat 650"), I think I'm gonna wait for the 700p
(assuming I'm ready to change in a few months).

The Palm version, supposedly, will come to Sprint first. Verizon only
has exclusivity on the WM version.

At least you got two-out-of-three right.

The Palm version (Treo 700p), supposedly, will come to Sprint first.
Verizon has six-month exclusivity on the WM version--it is not just
around the corner for Sprint. The 700p is of course not available yet,
but should be at Sprint before the 700w (assuming Sprint is going to
carry it).

I certainly wouldn't classify the 650 as a "new Treo."
