I was searching for the answer to this but couldn't seem to phrase the
search correctly or the answer doesn't exist.
I would like to be able to give someone the ability to send me text
messages but do not want to give ANY personal info, such as cell# or
sprintpcs email address. Is there any service that provides anonymous
redirection of text messages without exposing my cell# or email that
also does not open the door to a spam storm?
Thanks in advance.

For a while I had my Hotmail account notify me of any received email.
I turned that feature off a year ago; don't know if it is still available.

You can register a domain through GoDaddy.com for $3.95 per month and get
email forwarding. They give you a ton of email boxes--maybe 500?
So lets say you register the domain "mydomain.net"
And let's say your first name is Bill.
You could set up an address called [email protected] which would forward
any incoming emails to your Sprint text message address. The sender of the
text message would not know where it was redirected to.
A couple of points:
1: Text messages can be only a limited number of characters (something like
160 characters maximum). If your sender transmits more, they will be cut
off, and you may receive only the first part of the message. So this works
only if the sender understands that messages must be kept short.
2: If you respond via your Sprint PCS phone, it will reveal your true SMS
address (which contains your phone number). So if you want to remain
anonymous, you must not respond from your phone. This limits the usefulness
of the service.
I wish the carriers would offer cloaking with SMS messages. I do not
understand why it should be necessary to reveal one's wireless number when
sending or receiving text messages.

Because we'd be overwhelmed by spam if SMS could be sent without traceability.

It costs $.10 to send a message. Spammers would never pay that kind of
money to send SMS messages of 160 characters.
