This isn't the case in my experience.

I live in NE Ohio, regularly vacation in a very rural area in central Ohio,
recently traveled to Chicago and stayed at a hotel 20 miles out of the city.

My girlfriend uses the voice services moderately and I use the data services
heavily.

Not a single problem connecting, indoors or out, in over four months now. I
really needed it to work so I could adjust the model of my small business,
and so far Sprint has came through for me.

This just points up the truism that every carrier has their bad spots and
good spots. Sprint PCS used to be the only carrier with comprehensive
coverage in the lakefront areas in Lake and Ashtabula Counties, east of
Cleveland. I used to live in Mentor on the Lake (Lake County) and Sprint had
a tower two minutes from my house. Verizon, Alltel and AT&T all sucked there
for years (Verizon finally did something about their lack of coverage - don't
know about the others). Same for certain parts of Ashtabula County.

Then there were some points inland where you couldn't find a Sprint tower for
miles - mostly rural areas (don't know if that's changed, either).

I am glad that Ohio is better coverred. However, I have worked for two
clients in the last 12 months and at both client locations I receive marginal
signal. The former case caused me to consistantly miss calls and offerred
extremely delayed voicemail. The latter case is simply an irritant as I can
not hold a conversation without raising the antenna. In both cases, users of
Verizon [and Cingular] received strong signals and had no issues and the
Verizon users I speak too tell me that it just works everywhere they go, which
is exactly what I am looking for.

I'm just shocked that I would recieve flawless service quality in Ohio when
I read on here that people are having trouble using the service in much
bigger markets.

Thomas wasn't talking about bigger markets. Minneapolis is, in fact, one of
Sprint's stronger networks, as I understand it. I thought he was having
problems up north, in the more rural areas of MN.

Actually, I had good coverage up North and roaming worked well, so I can't
complain. My problem is in areas like Eden Prairie (a major suburb) and
Delano (a small town on US Hwy 12 just west of Minneapolis). I wish the phone
would roam so that I could utilize the better coverage of Verizon and QWest,
but instead, I sit at zero bars most of the time and barely receive calls and
can not talk until I raise the antenna. I often find that I am roaming onto
Verizon in interior rooms.

I understand that the Sprint network is actually better than Verizon in
Minnesota. Maybe the areas that you are encountering are a result of the
"luck of the draw" since all carriers have dead spots. Here is highly
populated Southern California (Orange County) Verizon does not provide a
usable signal to my home, whereas Sprint provides full signal strength.

I am one of those people that have made that claim for many years ... until my
run of clients in areas Sprint clearly isn't coverring well.

The beauty of it all is that when I price out Verizon with similar features
that I have now, I find that Verizon is looking a LOT more expensive. Hmm.
