I like this phone, but can it be used with a regular old sprint data plan
that lets me use the phone as a modem for my laptop for $10/ month...not the
    nearly quadruple that for EVDO.

    Is that possible?

Also, I'd be getting this a a forth phone for my fair and flexible plan.

What is the best price i might get this for?

    Thnx

    Jeff

    Re: Sany MM7500 EV-DO question

A Power Vision pack ($15-$25/month) is required as a part of the
privilege of owning the phone. If you want to use it as a modem, you
will also need the Phone as a Modem pack (around $40/month). The phone
supports PAM authentication and will not permit a modem connection
without the appropriate data pack. There is no known way to disable
    this behavior.

Great phone, by the way. I've had mine since February. Camera leaves a
bit to be desired, but functionally it's an excellent phone.

    Re: Sany MM7500 EV-DO question

I gather EVDO or nothing with this phone, right?

Maybe I'l try the mm8300 by sanyo, that is not a EVDO phone and still should
allow me to surf the net with my laptop for 410/month as i do now with my
    treo 650..right?

The 7500 will use Vision if PowerVision (EVDO) is not available.

Nope. The Sanyo 8200 will though. As long as you keep the tethering
    light you should be fine.
