Sprint PPC6700.

I got this pocket PC phone not too long ago and absolutely love it!!! I've also found some of the software that one is able to purchase and use to create personalized ringtones for their pocket pc phone. I was initially told by an in-store customer service representative that it was impossible to create your own ringtones for the pocket pc phones. Needless to say, I went back recently and showed the representative in question just what I found and was now able to do. Suffice it to say he was just a bit shocked and probably more than a little embarrassed that a customer knew more about the phone than the employee.

Ha! Showed him! It is probably more Sprint's fault than the rep, and
even then in Sprint's defense it would be expensive and time consuming
to train everyone on every device. You have to remember most of those
reps were working at McDonalds 6 months ago and will be working at
Burger King within the next 6. Not that thats a bad thing...

I have a PPC6700 and I love mine, too. I'm a small business owner and
it has proved invaluable. Using the phone-as-modem has allowed me to
change my business model. I can, for example, leave the house to go on
a sales call on my on-call days.

Believe it or not, it has SAVED my business. I moved about 6 months
ago and AT&T messed up the DSL order. For three weeks I had no DSL.
But I was still able to connect to the web and proceed with business
as usual with the PPC6700.

In all fairness, there is absolutely no way for Sprint to train
employees about every 3rd party application out for the pocket pc, or
for that fact any device. It is unfortunate that he chose the word
impossible when asked about the capability however. He should have
stated there was no specific Sprint supported method of doing so. I
work as a technical support agent myself, and try to always leave room
for the possibility that someone, somewhere may have created a work
around for something a customer whishes to do. I usually will direct
them to my dearest friend, 'Mr. Google', when I do not have a method
that is supported by us.

As a side note. I read somewhere, that the father of Orville and
Wilbur Wright once preached in a sermon that everything that could be
created by man, had already been done, and that any talk about humans
someday mastering flight was utter nonsense. Not sure if it is true,
but it is an interesting story. :-)

I agree with you. I believe the CSR should've said there wasn't a sprint supported way of going about the task of creating or customizing the ppc6700 with ring tones. And I do understand, having worked as a CSR myself a few years back, that it isn't possible to train any/all emplooyees in every aspect of any company. There are just going to be some situations and circumstances that will arise that will be never before seen or heard of. That's why technology is always changing and becoming newer and more functional.

I also have the PPC6700. I wish the ringer volume was louder and the stock
battery would last longer. Other than that, I love it.

Most of the people working at phone stores make little better than minimum
wage, so you can't really expect them to know that much, and unfortunately in
today's culture somehow being able to say, "I don't know how" is frowned upon
and therefore people instead say, "No, it can't be done." Bizarre, but true.

Do you have your system volume at the maximum? Also, if you are interested there are perograms/appliications/services that can be linked to from Sprint.com that enable you to create your own ringtones.
