I just ordered and received a Hitachi G1000 Pocket PC phone. I
ordered the unlimited vision for 15 a month and am paying another 15 a
month because i'm using a pocket pc phone. My phone service is 35 a
month so in total I'm paying 65 a month. Since I got the unlimited
internet plan which I plan on using a lot, I wanted to know if there
was a way I could hook up my phone to my laptop computer to use it as
a modem since the screen on the phone is kind of small to use it a lot
for interent use. When I'm home I'd prefer to use the laptop screen.

I called Sprint and asked them if I could do this. The lady from
Sprint said that there was no way to do this with a PDA phone, but
only with the regular phones. I thought I read somewhere where you
could still hook up Pocket PC and other phones too? Is there a way?
If so what equipment do I need? Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

Pocket PC devices can not be used as modems currently (with the possible
    exception of Bluetooth-enabled devices).

Palms can do this very easily however...

That's odd, as the G1000 appears to have a PC Modem mode.

If you use File Explorer, go to the Windows folder, and open the file
"modem", a "Modem Switch" Screen comes up that allows you to change the
unit from "ActiveSync" to "PC Modem" mode. The text on the screen says
that in PC Modem mode the unit becomes a USB modem of the PC.

Unfortunately, when this is done the PC looks for an INF file to
install for this new hardware, and Hitachi/Sprint apparently did not
    provide this on the CD-ROM.

OMG, I am sick of clicking the back (after not entering a username)
button only to find my post deleted - HoFo doesn't do this. Now I get
    to re-type everything...

Let me clarify, Microsoft does not provide the ability to do this in
the OS. Each phone edition developer has to write their own program to
    do this.

The XDA (T-Mobile Pocket PC, AT&T SX56) can also do this when you flash
the phone with the Developer ROM file.

That is good news, hopefully Hitachi will release the INF file (as
    Sanyo did).
