I know a Sprint PCS phone can be activated on Verizons network, once the
MSL code has been obtained, but I am wondering if a Sprint PCS phone with
Vision is capable of using Verizon's Express Network. Thanks.

Exceedingly difficult, unless you know someone "on the inside" at a VZW
store who will program your SPCS phone with a VZW PRL.

I highly doubt it. From all I've read, even if one is successful in
putting a Sprint phone on a Verizon network, it will work only for
voice calls.

Not really. After I obtained the MSL code for the Sprint phone I just gave
Verizon the ESN number to the phone and it was activated. I did this all
over the phone. I do not have any contacts at Verizon at all.

Derek:
Congratulations! I wasn't aware it was so simple -- for curiosity's
sake, could you tell us the brand and model of phone you activated, and
how your luck has been so far with features and such?

If it's a phone they sell, you're ok. If it's a phone that is a variant
of a phone they sell (for example, Verizon's 2325 and 2235 are essentially
the same phone as Sprint's 2345 and 2235), you may still be ok.
If it's a phone they don't sell, you're probably SOL.
And even sometimes with phones that Verizon activates through resellers/
retailers (like my old Alltel Nokia 6185, which Verizon never sold directly
but some Verizon authorized retail outlets sold), you may have a problem.
In my case, when I switched the phone, they were more than happy to upgrade
my firmware but said that either the model number or the ESN of the phone
was not in their database - so they couldn't do a PRL update.
I ended up manually uploading a PRL.
And I don't know what the differences are between Vision and Express
Network, from a technical standpoint.

Not true, it can be done over the air.

Thank you, Rob. Everyone seems to report different results on this
stuff -- thanks for contributing your side.
A question: friend of mine wants to buy an i700 from VZW and bring it
on over to SPCS. Any chance at all of this going through? (Anyone who
replies with a big orange Search button will be summarily bombed into
oblivion. )

Sprint PCS will not activate a non Sprint PCS phone.
