Here is the deal. I have a PDA, I don't need a camera what I want is
a nice looking phone with good battery life and good reception. A
week ago I chose the Samsung A500.

I have liked it okay so far. A number of times however I have had
trouble making phone calls either because of poor signal or because
the phone wouldnt dial out for any reason. I am not a huge fan of the
OS, getting around seems a bit odd. I think I probably have a
defective phone, the real question is should I stick with the Samsung
    A500 or should I switch??

I am not sure what other phone offered by Sprint would be a good
option. I like the color screen, and the clam shell design but I am
    open to ther ideas.

Have other had complaints about the A500 from Samsung or should I
    stick with it??
    Thanks.

There was a post on this site yesterday by spintpcs tech--seemed to be
pretty well in line with the several times this question has been ask.

Did you have Sprint before? The problems may be more the Sprint Network
than the model phone. All cellular networks are less than advertised and
sort of like swiss cheese. Ask around locally.

Also make sure your A500 has the latest firmware/PRL.

You may not have the latest software version for the A500 (WD-26, I
think (its hard to remember all these software versions!). That fixes
address book, calculator, and locking up issues (in a nutshell and most
    noticeable).

Right now, the only good phones that are not going to break the bank
(IMOHO) are the A500 and Sanyo 8100. The 5300 is still a bit expensive,
the N400 is a POS. If you can find an LG5350, that may not be too bad
(that phone has been OK, but LG has a horrible track record).

You mentioned you had a PDA, possibly the Samsung I-500 may be good for
you, if you can get sone, its a flip-PDA phone with a large screen for
its size, Palm-OS. Great package, but I think its $499.

    Its $599.

Some BestBuys have big closeout sales on Samsung I330. Some are already
sold out. Let your fingers do the walking. I've seen them as low as
$199.99 Sprint will be happy to sell you one for $499. It's a 6oz
PalmPhone with very nice integration, comes with leather case and 2
batteries. There are a few nice web sites out there totally devoted to
    the Samsung I330.
