Basically no.
http://www.markspace.com has written a $30 routine ("MissingSynch") that
allows the Samsung I330 to work great with Palm Desktop 4.1 and Isync 1.1
under Mac OS X (I know I'm running it under 10.2.6 now)
and presumably if there's enough demand they'll do one for the I500 also.
I have no connection with MarkSpace other than being a satisfied
customer.

Of course it can. You just need Palm Desktop, iSync and the iSync palm
conduit. I've got it working on my miniPB and I'm able to sync my
contacts and iCal.

According to:
http://www.apple.com/isync/devices.html
No Samsung Palm Phone is listed as supported.

It may not be listed as supported, but I can guarantee you that it
works. I've got it to work myself and there are many other threads
regarding this issue.

The Palm iSync Conduit allows most (if not all) Palm devices that work
with Palm Desktop for Mac to work with iSync. The i500 is one of
them...

The primary reason that the i330 didn't work with iSync on Mac OS X is
that Samsung used a proprietary, kludge-y serial-USB adapter in the
cradle (and in the optional cable). The phone itself did not support
USB, and the serial-USB conversion was a non-standard implementation.
This is why it required specialized drivers for Windows as well (and
even those tended to be buggy).
The i500 is native USB.
