I think I remember something else that we can all get upset about--isn't
this number portability thing just going to be available in the "top 100
population areas" or something like that--then those of us who aren't in
these area's of obviously higher what ever, will pay longer, and
longer--maybe I will call sprint and complain.

Somebody let me know if I'm wrong.

As far as I know, the FCC wants to make portability available all over
the US. Unless it works in some odd-way, it should be available
everywhere, regardless of location (I could be wrong, though, but I
    haven't heard what you posted)

I believe the fcc mandates it be available initially in only top 100 pop
areas--the carriers may do better than this--hope so--the reason I
remember, when the notice fcc decision came it took me 10 minutes to
find a list of top 100 markets--easy to find top 50---I'm not in top
    100--hopefully will be covered anyway.

I recall reading that it was in the top 100 markets as well. That does not
prohibit Sprint PCS from implementing it system wide, but I suspect they
won't give up customer numbers in areas that they are not mandated to do so,
    unless competitors start doing it.
