i was in the same boat last month....my 1 yr. contract ended w/sprint...assumed
    i'd find a better option/choice....and did not...i'm still w/sprint free of any
contract though so i can jump ship anytime. liked nextel's unlimited incoming
plans however don't like their 2 yr. contract w/those deals.

i'm on my 3rd samsung A-460 phone in 1 year. look slick & function
    fine....when they're functioning.

Of course, the A500 problems could be largely avoided if Sprint sold the
phone with the latest software. I was in a store when I had my phone
upgraded and a lady there was buying one. They brought out the box for her
when they returned my phone to me. I recommended she upgrade her software
before she leaves as there are problems with the old. The rep appeared
slightly annoyed with me, but upgraded the software for her (it was at
VH10). If there are known problems with old software ... Sprint stores
should be proactive in fixing it perhaps.

Meant no offense. I have also read in this NG where a number of
knowledgeable users have them and like them, so to be fair, they have their
    defenders.

But please note that I wrote "Samsung does not make very good
equipment, generally speaking." I was not just talking about phones. I have
worked for a company affiliated with Samsung and know a bit about the
manufacturing reputation they have in the equipment industry. Their quality
control is not up to the standards of many other manufacturers of
electronic equipment. I assume this extends to their phone sets, which
would explain reports from some people that they love their Samsung phones,
and from others who say it was all they could do to keep from throwing them
    out the window.

I admit that this is not very authoritative, and you are right, I
have never owned one of their phones. I never say never, but what I know of
their other types of equipment would prevent me from purchasing one. I once
did have a Samsung monitor, and my experience with it was quite bad (came
w/the computer, replaced after five months).

    Leaving Sprint

    Hello everyone,

As of yesterday, I have left Sprint PCS in favor of Verizon. The real
reason was for the coverage... VZW's coverage in my area is really the
    best.

I have no hard feelings towards Sprint. They served me well for a
couple of years, as has this newsgroup. I thank everyone I have
interacted with. I will probably continue to lurk here just to keep
tabs on how Sprint is doing, but my posting will slowly wind down.

In the past day and a half, I have been very impressed with Verizon.
Their coverage in my area is great -- and I have been getting strong
signal inside buildings I was never able to with my Sprint phone. I
have had to call customer care a couple of times (once to ask a question
about voice mail setup, and second to ask a coverage/roaming question)
and both calls wer fast and friendly.

I guess in closing, I just wanted to say that I enjoyed my time here.
From everyone from Bob to Rob to even Phillipe, I thank you for making
this newsgroup something interesting and memorable.

Good for you. Glad to hear someone didn't get reamed by Sprint and that
you got out while the getting is good as they say. Hopefully Verizon
will not totally screw you and your luck will hold up.

Of course if unfortunatly you do get screwed by Verizon I'm sure you'll
keep that information to yourself and stay upbeat and positive about
their service, as that would be totally helpful to everyone and in
keeping with your critiques of other posts.

Btw: Verizon does rate very high alongside ATT in many studies, for many
factors including coverage and also CS.

You did acknowledge that Verizon has superior coverage though... does
that mean Sprint has inferior coverage? Glory be! That sure sounds
    negative.

Good luck and happy "self moderating" to you.

Of course I would post in the verizon group about a bad experience. But
I would only post about it once.

In my area, however. I'm sure there are other areas in the country
where Sprint has superior coverage to Verizon. As it is with all
    providers.

If there are areas where Sprint has superior coverge they are few and
    far between.

Tell me do you tend to equivicate everything so readilly without have
    any facts?
