Hi,
I left Cingular for AT&T several years ago because they kept making
changes to my contract to add additional charges while the contract
was still in force. As if the contract was only for me, not for them
to abide by.
This past October I got a letter from ATTWS telling me that if I renew
their contract for a year they'll give me an additional 300 minutes
and unlimited mobile-to-mobile calling permanently. I took them up on
it and spoke to a service rep who promised me that Cingular would
honor the contract.
Last week Cingular informed me that the deal is off and there's no way
they'd give me an extra 300 minutes per month and unlimited
mobile-to-mobile calling; and I'm now on a month-to-month basis. Then
my cell phone broke and since Cingular was still offering a good deal
in my area, I decided to take out a new contract with Cingular and get
a new cell phone.
I got an e-mail yesterday informing me that Cingular activated my new
cell phone as of yesterday and I have 30 days from the day of
activation to get out of the contract if I want. Also my cell phone
was shipped UPS ground yesterday and it'll take 7-10 days before I
receive it. What a bunch of assholes these guys are! I have to pay
for 7-10 days of cell phone service while my new phone is in transit?
And one third of my "30 day evaluation" is spent in shipping?
I'd switch to T-Mobile but they just don't have the coverage that I
want and I know people who are having a hard time with T-Mobile
customer service.
There must be some sort of rule in the cellular business that you have
to be a total asshole to provide cell service.

Actually recent surveys ofcustomers rate T-Mobile's Customer Service the best
in the industry. This is twice in a row now that they have been rated best.
