I have an att nokia phone and have not been converted over to cingular
yet.
I want to purchase an unlocked motorola v551 and hook it up to cingular
service but I have heard that my att sim card may not function properly
in the new phone. Anyone know anything about this?

Re: switching sim cards - att to cingular
Zeebster,
You don't "get converted" (at least not in the GSM sense) "to Cingular". ATT
and Cingular are now covering different areas, so if you went out of your
area under which you normally see "ATT WIRELESS" on your phone into an area
that Cingular covers, you'll see "Cingular Wireless" on your phone. When
your phone boots up, you'll probably see an ATT screen, but the phone will
jump to whatever tower has the stronger signal (either Cingular or ATT).
You can purchase an unlocked Motorola GSM phone and put your SIM chip from
your ATT phone in it and it should work perfectly well.
Hope this helps,
Steve
