I use wired headsets with my non-Bluetooth cellphone every day. Maybe
I'm too rough with them, because they keep dying on me, almost
certainly due to the connecting wire developing cracks in the wire
(when I jiggle the wire, I hear static). I haven't had one last more
than 4 months, and I'm tired of replacing them at $20 a pop.
Is there a solution to this problem? Is there a headset with a robust,
well-shielded, thicker connection wire that will last? Or is there a
good but reasonably priced wireless adapter system that will work
throughout my house? Thanks for any suggestions.

There are the wireless headsets below and other headsets, including
corded ones at the LowestCostMall, available via
www.trterryconsulting.com. Just go to www.trterryconsulting.com and
click on "Click here to shop now" under "Online Shopping." From the
LCM site you can do a search on "headsets" or "cordless headsets."
Plantronics CT10 900 MHz Analog Cordless Headset Phone
List Price: $129.95
LCM Price: $91.65
Member Price: $89.11
Item: 1577901
This cordless phone, essentially a low-powered FM radio
transmitter/receiver, uses high frequencies with short wavelengths so
radio waves encounter less interference. A 900 MHz cordless phone like
the Plantronics CT10 typically has a range of up to 150 feet indoors.
The headset will beep three times if you wander out of range of the
base.
Operate the headset using the handy remote dialing unit, which plugs
into the headset via a jack. The remote unit is charged and stored in
thephone's base, which also features a stand for storing the headset,
clearing up desk space. Don't worry about losing track of the remote
unit--a page button on the base sounds a beep that helps you locate
it. This phone uses a single line and has analog operation.

Re: Headsets keep dying!
Nemo, I know your pain.
I upgraded to a Nokia 6230 with the new style headset. I have two headsets
fail, and Nokia will not accept the receipt OEM Cellular (Brooklyn, NY)
provided since I paid thru eBay. First Nokia insisted on a receipt, I
faxed, the rep called and said the replacement is on the way this time, but
no more. I paid $33 for 3 headsets, and that's too low of a price to
warranty. Fast forward a month, there is no record at Nokia of my first
call, receiving the fax or mailing out a replacement. What to do? Fax in
the receipt again. Yes, that's what this Nokia CS rep wants. I'm not one
to use strong language, but I'm getting close.
Remember the hdc-9p's? I have a bag full of good ones after sending the bad
back over years of using the old style phones.
