the phones as well as the service.
    I live in Dracut,MA......

I am trying to stay under 100.00 for a cell phone.

I cant believe all the different types of phones.

I am looking for online consumer info.
    any resources.

    thanks

My take is that the cost of the phone is not the major issue. What
you want to do is get the minutes you need for the lowest total
over a 2-3 year period. The answer will be different depending on your
usage. If you're like me, using it only once in a while, the
    Verizon-like
plans with gobs of free weekend minutes etc at a minimum of $40/month
don't make any sense. I've been using VirginMobile pay as you go for
    about a year,
where I only top up once every 90 days for about $15 and never run out
    of time.
My wife has Verizon and pays $40/month for the same level of service.

I'm thinking about switching to T-Mobile because someone told me their
coverage was better. It costs about the same as Virgin

talk to other cell phone users in your area. Try their phones where
you will be using the service. Be sure to try different cell phones
and different carriers. You can have the same carrier and one phone
that does not have reception and another that has great reception.
Then look for that carrier and those phones. Most carriers want you to
sign a 2 yr agreement to get a discounted phone. You can also look for
used phones for that carrier and if it is GSM you can also get one that
is unlocked which means you can use it with any carrier.

I like my tracfone for $50 a year.
The service area in Texas is much better than TMobile. TMobile sucks
once you leave the city and it ain't too hot in most of the city.
