I just got the 3gs. It's my first iPhone so I thought I'd spend some extra money to get the newest version, but I wouldn't recommend an upgrade just for the 3gs.

when you think you got the latest, they will roll the next one in a few months

I know like 4 people who all bought a 3G around the same time last year all of them have had to take their phone back to the apple store atleast once my boss has a 3GS and has never had any problems with it. I'm thinking there might be a quality issue with the 3G. Besides that Apple is the ultimate marketing machine notice none of the iphones have a flash on the camera...I bet that will be the next item they market. with the requisite advertising campaign forced down our throats!

Believe me, its well worth the price to get the 3gs. It is so much faster at everything. My roommate has a regular 3g, and i upgraded to the 3gs and everything I do will take half the time on the 3gs

I like the 3gs and since I dont already own an iphone then buying the 3gs is a must

3GS has SPEED. It was the best upgrade I could have ever made. Definitely worth it.
