iPhone 3GS 'freezing up' in the cold?

Has anyone had problems with their 3GS not wanting to work when it's really cold outside? I was trying to take a few pictures with mine this morning, and the camera wouldn't operate. I could get past the security lock screen and bring up the OEM camera app, but the screen view wouldn't iris open and take the picture. I'd had the phone in the inside pocket of my motorcycle jacket for about ten miles. The temperature was 11 degrees F, and the wind chill while I was moving was about -15. Has anyone had issues with their phone misbehaving in the cold? It seems to be working normally now that it's warmed up.

ELEVEN degrees F, still air temperature. Wind chill of -15. It was marginally warmer at lunchtime, a balmy 16F, and I was able to get the picture I wanted:



My bike with Santa's sleigh, for a scavenger hunt on a bike board. The phone camera 'froze up' after two shots at lunch time, too. No big deal on the pictures, really. My bigger concern is the possibility of needing to make an emergency-type call in extreme cold, and not being able to.

Funny you should mention that, mine was frozen and not working the other night, but I didn't associate it with the weather.

Hallo, habe heute Morgen, und der Bildschirm reagiert nicht -2. Ich denke das Problem ist tatsächlich kalt. Wer weiß, keine praktischen Trick, um dieses Problem zu lösen? Dank

Never experienced the same issue associated with the cold weather yet.

I never had that problem but you have to consider that batteries normally work less effective in the cold.
