New iPhone 4 versus reconditioned iPhone 5

Still trying to figure out my phone choices. Thru straight talk I can get an I-4 for $350 dollars. And can get an I-5, reconditioned one, for $400 dollars. Is it worth it to spend $50 more for a reconditioned I-5 versus buying the new, but older version I-4? Also, one indicates the Motorola has good weak signal capability. I have posted here before on that issue. The only Motorola one they sell won't work Verizon, so am struck with buy and try to see if I can get a signal in the house or go with an Iphone, I want to be able to return them if they don't work. Really would like to go Android but a couple of the smart phones I tried with Straight Talk didn't work for me, whereas my grandson's Iphone did. Could buy on line from someone a Motorola Razer but then returning it if if doesn't work is a problem. Thanks

Do you mean the iphone 4 & 5? Are you sure the it's not the 4s? If not, definitely get the iphone 5.

If I recall correctly wasn't your grandson's phone on a different service? Keep in mind that all services are not created equal.

The 350 dollar one is a plain 4 at 350 dollars. The 5 is a plain 5 at 400 dollars. They do offer a 4S but it is 450 dollars. I guess could also ask is a new 4S worth spending 50 dollars more versus a refurbed plain 5. These are on Straight Talks web site.

The grandson's phone also on Verizon. My friends Iphone was AT&T but gave the same results. One bar in the center of the house and 2 bars at the windows. I'm staying with Verizon since traveling to Pennsylvania my home town has good Verizon signal and also believe Verizon will give me better signal in my travels. Thanks

I would definitely get the iPhone 5 then. The 4s and the 5 are faster than the 4.

You may have a hard time activating it on Verizon if you're getting it from Straight Talk though. I'm not sure what version of the phone they are giving out at this point and Verizon will only activate their model (a CDMA A1429) on their network.
