Cell phone newbie here - need advice on Iphone like models

Greetings,

I am in the need of a new phone and I am kind of anti-apple, so the Iphone isn't really they way I want to go. I want a phone that I can run apps on and that has a decent camera.

I was thinking of getting the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 as it runs the android OS. I want to be able to keep track of my checking account balance with this phone if that is possible (something like Excel or any spreadsheet should do).

I just am lost in this new cell phone climate as I havne't had to look for a phone for 3 years. I would LOVE to be able to teather this phone to a laptop for internet access, this would be EXTREMELY beneficial so if anyone knows of a phone that allows this, please let me know.

Would this Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 be any match to an Iphone 4?

Anything with Android pretty much functions the same way. There are a couple exceptions with some of the add-on software that HTC, Samsung, and Motorola include, but other than that, unless you're looking for something specific, any Android device should do. That being said, the X10 would be an excellent choice.
