BTW...If you're Falsifying the information you provide your insurance provider so you don't have to pay the deductible. That's insurance fraud. Also if you're doing your claims online with a computer you've upgraded to a class E felony for it using computer technology. Hope you enjoy 8X8 spaces and decor invovling bars.

Re: Asurion cell phone insurance review!
I am so glad that you posted this here. I have never been a fan of cell phone insurance, but I was thinking of geting it. Now, there is no way I will fall for that. I am not surprise since insurance companies in my opinion are in the business of not paying claims, and do everything to make it hard to file claims.

Don't take it from me that Asurion is a total scam - the courts came to the same conclusion. There was a massive class action lawsuit that was recently settled.

Re: Asurion cell phone insurance review!
I have had 3 experiences. First two were easy. First time i dropped my phone in the toilet, called asurion, had a phone the next day. Second time i did the same thing with the toilet, went online, filed my claim, had my phone next day. Now the third time. I lost my phone so I needed to get a new one. I started filing a claim online. Now they needed me to fax a copy of a photo ID to them (why?) I have faxed the ID atleast 10-15 times in the past 8 days, and they still say they have not recieved it. Now i am phone-less for two weeks because asurion can't check their fax machine? So i call and they give me a higher up person who i can fax it to and get it taken care of. Oh yeah, there is a fee when you fax to this guy. Asurion is sketchy. That is all i will say.

Re: Asurion cell phone insurance review!
That is very strange on several levels.
I understand that they would want a copy of your driver's license since you will not be sending the lost phone in obviously. It's not the same as a case where the phone is damaged. You send in the broken one and they send you one that works. They have to trust you at your word that you actually lost it so they want some documentation.
What is weird is that they're giving you the run-around. And you should certainly not have to pay to send a fax to someone. I have never, ever heard of that. How much is the fee they want you to pay?

Re: Asurion cell phone insurance review!
Anyway they do not cover when the phone is disabled due to over exposure in rain what is the whole point?Do they cover a damage due to fall?
All the insurance sucks...they talk big and cover no damage at all.Don't be ever impressed by the insurance coverage claims...Those who have gone to claim it really knows what it is like.

Re: Asurion cell phone insurance review!
I made a claim about 6 months ago on my bb,a few months after it was released. I broke my charger port, and they sent me a brand new one in the box. Literally brand new, unopened, on the very next day. They asked me to send back my broken phone in the prepaid envelope without the battery, which I did. I'd have to say I was very satisfied with their service. I think if I had an older phone though, I mightve ran into problems with a refurbished one.. I had a friend who made a claim thru asurion once, and they sent him a referb that looked shoddy and then broke in a few days and they made him pay another deductible to replace it.

Re: Asurion cell phone insurance review!
I'll tell you this: The INSURANCE AGENCIES are all out to steal your money. Thats the name of the game. First off if your buy a T-mobile phone outside of your start up or renew contract then your a fool. Go to a companies website like Motorola.com and buy an unlocked gsm phone. It cost more but it has all of the features of the phone that t-mobile and att take out(Like bluetooth from mobile to mobile(ATT)) The benefit to having an unlocked phone can very but since its already unlocked you wont need to pay to get it unlocked, You could even go and buy a T-mobile prepaid phone and put your sim card in it.which you can call att or tmobile to get the unlock code for free instead of paying thru third party unlockers who do the same thing. Also if you use an unlocked phone you can use it as a prepaid phone instead of buying a prepaid phone, which, the phone companies say wont work but there full of crap thats just what they are taught so they can get you to buy another phone. Anyways, phone insurance is a bad idea for the simple fact that if your carefull with your 400 dollar phone you will never need it because most cell phones have a one year warranty on them. I am a fan of a Motorola, and I actually sold my 3g iphone to go back to using a Motorola Rizr. I have also been with T-mobile for 5 years and after two or three more years they usually give you way better phone deals and unlimited minutes for 55 a month. So.... Skip out on insurance, stay away from water and dont be afraid to actually take care of something that has the potential to cost you 500+ dollars PS Walmart.com has the best return policy, search unlocked gsm, if you need a replacement phone for a couple days go buy a prepaid cell phone in the store and use it for two weeks keep it an good condition then take it back and get a full refund

Re: Asurion cell phone insurance review!
It doesn't matter if its dishonest or not. For years corporate america has been doing things that are dishonest. The phone companies that sell you there phones are dishonest for charging more then what the phone makers sell them for. Thats why prepaid phones are really cheap and contracted phones are not. I think what is dishonest is the isurance companies not telling you that the phones they send you are refurbished and not new. Think about it, how big is it a rip off to charge someone five dollars a month and then fifty to a hundred to actually get one of their phones that the got for free from someone who was in the same boat as you?
