when you say adult...do you mean., only adults can enter? (what age? how to enforce)?

Nah... if I want naked pictures I can get all I want all day long without joining a forum to do it. And I can type dirty messages all day long in email if I want, and get people to respond (I might not like the responces, but hey I'll get them!)

And as for a Sports section... talk about them and not play them? No fun!

....the two things that make a forum run are interesting and intelligent members, and a point or goal. You can get away with having interesting and intelligent members, but no point IF yothink those members will invite all of their friends and stay forever. More logically,to keep it fresh you need a point or goal that will be interesting to people who google it and provide you with a constant stream of new members...

You can get away with having a forum with a point, but it will sit there unnoticed until you get those intelligent and interesting members who spark conversation and keep things rolling...

If you're gonna be a sports forum BE a sports forum, and serve a little porn on the side where people can ignore it if they wanna... but beware the fact that you are one of Umpteengazillion sports forums on the net and without a strong starting memberbase you will likely be one of the upnteengazillion stagnant sports forums!)

Photochopz, I hope this was a misunderstanding on my part, but if you are spamming, it had better stop RIGHT NOW. "my friend's and my".... the rule is say it without the additional people "my venture" or "I venture"? Use the one that sounds right listing the other participants before yourself...

Another tip, and I learned this is an effective way of avoiding grammatical errors, is to reword the sentence.

Ex: My friend and I have started a forum, and this info can be applied to our venture.

Suddenly, the question is out of the picture.

My old H.S. english teacher gave me a lot of high marks for never having the above type of errors, simply because I avoided them.

im a moderator on another forum with 50,00 members so i knwo what its like guys, i might not be the best one but i do my job.

i think i was able to strike up one hell of a conversation if i do say so myself, your welcome
