Do you use cell phone in school?

Schools have pretty weired rules these days.
My brother said that their teacher seized his cell phone and gave it back to him after school finished. Cell phone is not allowed in their school. I never saw any other school in my city where cell phone is not allowed.
I wonder if there is same rules anywhere in United States.

In my high school (I graduated 10 years ago) cell phones and pagers were NOT allowed. they would search us all if a tone was ever heard.

Cell Phones weren't as popular or even around when I went to school; however, the federal law states they are ALLOWED at school, but some teachers have rules that say not during class. That's OK. It use to be where if they saw an object that looked like a Cell Phone in your pocket, they would take it...now it's against the law to do that.
