I am an AT&T Customer and have 8 months left on my contract. I have to wait 5 months to replace my broken phone and not pay an outragous price.

I have my eye on a cingular phone and would like to migrate will they allow me to migrate after i buy a cingular phone off of ebay?

would i be able to use the sim card from my old att phone with a new phone like the LG l1400 (Cingular phone)?

Even though they are different bits one sim is 32bit and the new one is 64bit or something like that?

or should (and could) i get the phone unlocked and stay with my current contract even though the sim cards are differnt bits.

    im verry confused

You should be able to migrate without paying a termination fee because of AT&T and Cingular merging. And u wont be able to use the same SIM card.

Sorry this doesn't answer all of ur questions but i told u what i know for sure.

the sim makes no difference. If you buy an unlocked phone off of ebay, you should be able to use your same sim card and same plan you are already on. No need to migrate, until of course they make you. The only difference in the sims is the new 64k card provides better load balancing with ens. You are a blue customer so you don't even have ens, so don't worry about it.

Thats right, IF you want to stay with ATT. If you upgrade to cingular, you will automaticly get a new phone just like if you signed a new contract. It all depends on what you want to do... stick out your contract with AT&T or go with cingular.

If you cant decide, heres a few things that people often dont know when they change to cingular..
-ATT and cingular are on the same network now, meaning that even if you are on ATT, you are on cingular's network.
-the only big difference between the 2 are the plans. I personally like the rollover minutes, but I pay because I dont get as many minutes with Cingular per dollar.
-ATT is cheaper, check out some of their plans.
    -Cingular's customer service sucks..
-ATT's customer service often doesnt work at all (stupid automated system).

To make a long post short, they both have their ups and downs. If I were you, I would check your cingular store to see if they have the phone you want at a cheaper price than you would get it off of ebay.
