Im looking at buying a pre-paid cell phone. I cannot afford a contract at this time. I will be getting it for my husband now and I will get one for myself at a later date.
Question is : which company is better?
Ive got a headache from reading about them and now feel even more confused.
Cingular has no free night and weekends....
trac fone seems expensive compaired to others.
    How about t mobile?

Im looking for a decent phone that I can download music,,play games,,and drop on the ground without breaking..(husband is a carpenter)

Also want to call each other for free ...is that possible without a contract?

Which seems to be the best overall?
    Thanks in advance!!

call me crazy, but you're asking a lot from a prepaid. they're good for calling and some texting.

if you want free minutes whether mobile to mobile or night/weekends, you'll need to get a plan.

maybe just get a cheap one for now, then treat yourself to a contract later if you think you will utilize it.

this is very similar to what my wife and i did. started w/ 1 virgin phone, then went to 2. when we moved to chicago (near her family) and knew we'd burn through more prepaid $ than if we bought a contract. so now the whole family is on cingular and nobody uses their minutes. our rollover is ungodly high.

but back to topic, do what you need to now, but be open to changing down the road.

You can get Boost Mobile! It has no credit check or contract and includes: Unl. Nights & Weekends, Unl. Walkie-Talkie(which means if you both had one you would be able to talk to each other unlimited), Unl. Text Messaging, and 200 minutes. If you go over the 200 minutes, it is only $.10/min.
