Sony Ericsson W600i White Screen and Music Downloads PA

Sony Ericsson is seeing incidences of consumers complaining of a white screen on their W600i on power-up after executing a music download through the USB port on their computer. This is due to improper shutdown of the USB Connection with the W600i, which introduces error into the W600i USB file, preventing the W600i from powering up properly.

If a consumer experiences a white screen on their W600i after executing a music download through the USB port on a computer the W600i may still recover. The W600i has a USB file recovery capability where the W600i checks its USB file system for errors and corrects those errors. The consumer should be told to allow the allow the W600i to remain "powered-on" for approximately 30 minutes to give the W600i the opportunity to execute the USB file recovery and return to normal operation.

If the W600i does not return to normal operation after this 30-minute period, there is a problem that is not recoverable and may require warranty exchange.

Please see the USB Connection BP for instructions on how to properly end a USB connection.
