As you're probably aware of, one of HTC's last year's flagship phone has been the HTC One X. The gadget in question got launched in spring 2012, much like the One has been released in spring 2013. Although the X has been a pretty strong handset, by the end of last year the device was outperformed by a handful of newer high-end smartphones. As such, the Taiwanese manufacturer has decided that the best course of action is to launch an updated version of the gadget.

This is how the HTC One X+ came to be, and for those of you who happen to own this particular device, I have some pretty exciting news.

According to reports, the X+ has started receiving Android 4.2.2 and the Sense 5 user interface update. The catch however, is that the update got launched only on the unlocked model in Asia. The good news is that Europe and US should follow in sooner rather than later.

The update contains new Android 4.2.2 features such as Daydreams and lock screen widgets, but the highlight is evidently the new Sense UI, which brings features such as BlinkFeed, video highlights in the gallery app, a new music application and an overall redesigned user interface.

The package weighs roughly 484 MB and is currently being rolled out over the air in Asia. I for one am wondering whether or not the HTC One X will get some attention soon as well. Although a bit less powerful, the X has definitely been sold in greater numbers than the X+.

In any case, one more thing I should mention is that, even if the official OTA will not arrive soon on the X+ in other regions, the launch of the update on the Asian models will give the developer community the opportunity to create and port a custom ROM boasting the same features as the official release.

Do any of you own the One X+? Are you excited about these recent developments?
