As many of you already know by now, the international HTC One has already made the jump to Android 4.2.2, yet the US variant is still running on Android 4.1.2. Meanwhile, the Google Play edition has received Android 4.3, and owners of the One in the States have started wondering when they'll get the chance to leave version 4.1 behind.

Some of these users have started asking about the update's whereabouts on Twitter, where the HTC president Jason Mackenzie has answered some of these burning questions. When asked about the HTC One Dev Edition and the status of the update, Mackenzie replied that the device will not receive Android 4.2.2 at all, but that it will make the jump to Android 4.3 directly instead. The reason for this is simply because -as Mackenzie has replied- version 4.2.2 brings minor updates, whereas 4.3 is a more exciting package. More so, since version 4.3 is "so close", the company has decided that it would make more sense to skip the proverbial "middleman".

There is however another question on our minds right now, and that is whether or not all of the One variants in the US will follow this route. As mentioned above, his replies were given in regards to the HTC One Dev Edition – which is pretty much an unlocked model. Unfortunately, he didn't mention anything regarding the carrier-branded variants, but it would benefit us all and it would make a certain amount of sense if the mobile operators in the States will deliver Android 4.3 instead of 4.2 as well. Perhaps that's why the roll-out of 4.2 has been delayed for so long to begin with. One can only hope…

All in all, it seems that HTC might start and handle the deployment of future updates with more success. Earlier today, the HTC One X in Europe has also received the long-awaited Android 4.2.2 update featuring Sense 5, and perhaps the One flagship in the US will receive Android 4.3 sooner rather than later.
