Recently, Jason Mackenzie – the President of HTC America- has been quite generous with giving out information about the arrival of Android 4.3 on the HTC One and the Droid DNA. Mackenzie has answered key questions on Twitter, and last month we've learned that the HTC One in the US will receive the Android 4.3 update by the end of September, alongside Verizon's Droid DNA.

Earlier this week, the HTC President has once again delivered some news on Twitter, but this time around, there's somewhat of a mixed bag of both good and not-so-good news.

Starting off with the good bits of information, Mackenzie has confirmed that owners of the HTC One Developer Editions should start receiving the Android 4.3 update sometime this week. Likewise, HTC One owners in Canada should also get the same update by the end of this month.

As for the carrier branded One in the US, Mackenzie said that HTC is still working diligently for US carrier certification. This means that the carrier variants of the One should get the 4.3 update soon, but unfortunately we still don't know exactly when.

As far as the HTC DROID DNA goes, unfortunately it seems that the roll-out may not go according to the initial plan. First of all, while Mackenzie did reconfirm that the handset in question will receive the Sense 5 user interface, the UI will apparently be part of an Android 4.2.2 update, and not 4.3. Furthermore, while we've expected for the roll-out to commence sometime by the end of September, this may not be the case after all, as the HTC President has now informed us that the launch of the update will happen "before end of year".

This basically means that, while there is still hope for a September roll-out, Sense 5 may very well land on the Droid DNA in October, November or even December. More so, it's unclear whether or not Android 4.3 will ever be released on the Droid DNA, and that's quite unsettling.

Hopefully we'll get more positive news on that one later on. Until then, if you happen to own a HTC One Developer Edition, I strongly advise you to check for updates regularly, as the long-awaited Android 4.3 package may be waiting for you. If you do manage to download the new OS version, don't hesitate to let us know by leaving a comment below.
