Xiaomi Mi3 Boasting Updated Snapdragon 800 Processor Now Expected to Hit the Shelves in December

Those of you who are familiar with the Xiaomi Mi smartphone line-up should be aware of the fact that these devices have always hit the market as flagship phones. The latest creation from Xiaomi is the Mi3, a pretty powerful handset that arrives at a killer price of 1,999 yuan (or about US $312).

The handset in question has been initially shipped with a Tegra 4 SoC under the hood, but given the fact that the chip supports China's 3G TD-SCDMA network and not much else, the company promised that a different, Snapdragon 800-equipped model will hit the shelves at a later date. Well, that moment is almost here, as the manufacturer has now announced that the SD Xiaomi Mi3 will hit the shelves sometime in December.

It's interesting to note that the Snapdragon 800 processor inside this particular smartphone is not your regular chip. In fact, this version of the chip is more powerful, delivering a CPU frequency of 2.3 GHz (instead of 2.2 GHz), a 550 MHz Adreno 330 graphics chip as opposed to 450 MHz, and LPDDR3 RAM that runs at 933 MHz instead of 800 MHz.

Aside from these details, the gadget features 2 GB of RAM, a 13 MP Sony camera on the back panel featuring dual-LED flash and HDR, a 2 MP secondary camera, 16 / 32 GB of internal storage, Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean out of the box, and a 3,050 mAh battery. The handset also packs an IPS LCD 5 inch display boasting a resolution of 1080 x 1920, and a pixel density of 441 pixels per inch.

Unfortunately, Xiaomi hasn't made any concrete announcements regarding the handset's release on the global market, so those of you who would be interested in buying this device will most likely need to rely on resellers, assuming of course that Xiaomi will not be interested in launching the device in other markets.
