During the past few weeks we've talked an awful lot about the upcoming high-end smartphones that are set to go on sale within the next few weeks and/or months, and we had the chance of doing so mainly because both CES and the Mobile World Congress are two great events where new smartphones are being unveiled and demoed on a yearly basis.

Nonetheless, as we've said on numerous occasions before, the mobile market does not consist only in high-end gadgets, and affordable smartphones are also playing a big part in the business.

With that in mind, today we're going to talk a bit about a brand new low-end handset that goes by the name of Sprint Force. The handset in question is now available for purchase in the US via Sprint –obviously- so let's take a look at what it can offer and at what price.

The Force arrives with a 4-inch display featuring a resolution of 480 x 800, a dual-core Qualcomm MSM8960 processor running at 1.5 GHz, 1 GB of RAM, 4 GB of ROM, a microSD card slot that allows the user to expand the storage by up to 32 GB, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, a 5 MP camera on the back with LED flash, a 1 MP front-facing sensor, a 1,730 mAh battery and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box. The gadget also weighs 5.4 oz (153.1g) and its dimensions are 4.88 X 2.54 X 0.47 inches (123.9 mm x 64.5 mm x 11.9 mm).

If the handset's hardware spec-sheet looks good for your needs then you should know that the Sprint Force is now available for purchase at the price of $49.99 on a two-year agreement with the carrier, and after a $50 mail-in rebate via reward card.
