hi, i am currently in china and want to buy a cell phone but i do not know if it will work in u.s, i heard it has to be unlocked or something, how do i tell when i buy the cell

If you're going to use a phone for both the US and overseas, get one that uses 850/900/1800/1900Mhz. An easy way to see if a certain phone is unlocked is that it doesn't have any carrier logo. Or try out different SIM cards and see if they register.

In china all the cell phones you buy in store are unlocked. Only those purchased directly from china mobile or china unicom are possiblly locked. Please note only the phones with 3-band or 4-band work in US

should i get a 3 band phone or a 4 band phone if i live in Maryland, the price is very differnt
