I was just a-wondering if it would be possible to purchase an American cell phone, with an American cell phone number and an American cell phone network provider from the UK, to be used in the UK.

So, that making calls from the UK would still be the same as making a call from America. If that makes sense...

Any help you can give on this topic would be greatly appreciated, it would help with personal travel needs.

Obviously I'm no expert, but as long as your phone is tri or quad band, you should be alright. You might want to check the MHz too, as this can have a big efect on your reception quality. One last thing: If you plan to change networks, make sure your phone is "unlocked". Welcome to CPF by the way !
