I am unfortunately under contract with verizon wireless and counting down my days to emancipation (one month left!). The problem is no other carries in the US are offering mobiles with qwerty keyboards (ie. LG env and Samsung 740). I have been searching diligently. I am at the point where I would contemplate an unlocked phone, but I really don't know where to start.

Is this just a pipe dream, will I have to end up using a blackberry (unnecessary for someone who is at their desk 8 hours a day) or some other type of smart phone?

Thoughts, suggestions, anything will be useful....
