I hold a UK cell phone on the operator 02. I am trying to text message a cell phone in NY, which this length: 8##-5###

Now, what do I do to text this phone from mine? I know it will cost a lot
I know I need an international calling code, but I don't have a clue...
So could someone please give me any help with this? I trawled the net but only find things for landline international calls...
