I purchased a pre-pay sim carded Samsung A437, as I was told it would work well in RP (Philippines). I took the empty sim card out and sent it to my sister who is in the Peace Corps, she went and bought a Sim Card. I purchased an unlock code on fleabay for $4 and she followed the instructions which unlocked the phone.

But she says that though everyone else in her vicinity gets 4 or 5 bars, she only gets one and it won't hold a call.

Any thoughts on what's going on. If it's a quad band, then it has to have the band that works there. It could be defective, I suppose. Any thoughts before I tell her to throw it out?
