Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open the apps drawer and go to “Settings”
  2. Under “Device”, tap “Battery”
  3. Tap “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Adjust the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Access “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
  3. Disable “Adaptive brightness” if necessary
  4. Tap “Brightness level” and drag the slider towards the left side
  5. From the “Display” menu, tap “Sleep”
  6. Select a lower value, like “15 seconds”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: To prolong battery life on the long run you can set your account to sync less data.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Under “Personal” tap “Accounts”
  4. Select an account type and clear the check boxes next to the sync options you want to disable

Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS:

NOTE: Your phone’s connectivity features can have a considerable impact on the battery performance, so it’s advised to disable these features when you don’t use them. (This includes Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth).

  1. From the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down
  2. Tap the tiles next to “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” to disable them
  3. For more options on how GPS (Location) works, go to “Settings” > “Location” > “Mode” > “Battery saving”
  4. To disable hotspot, go to “Settings” > “Wireless & Network” > “More” > “Tethering & mobile hotspot” and turn off “Mobile Wi-Fi hotspot"

Use 4G instead of 2G:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Swipe to “Wireless & networks”
  3. Tap “More” > “Mobile networks”
  4. Tap “Preferred network type” and select “2G”

Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:

NOTE: Some third party apps can run processes in the background, and affect your phone’s battery life even if you don’t open / use them. As such, you should consider disabling or removing unused third party apps. To do so:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Swipe to “Device”
  4. Tap “Apps” and swipe to “Downloaded”
  5. Select the desired app
  6. To disable the application, tap “Force Stop” / “Disable”
  7. To remove the app entirely, tap “Uninstall” > “OK”
