Turn On Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery”
  3. Tap “Menu” and turn on “Battery saver”

Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when they are not in use, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the “notification” bar down from the home screen
  2. Tap the tiles associated with “Bluetooth”, “Location” and “Wi-Fi” to disable the features
  3. Open the “Settings” menu (NOTE: if any of the tiles mentioned above are missing, you can disable the features from “Settings”)
  4. Tap “Location” for more GPS settings
  5. Tap “Mode” and choose “Battery saving”
  6. To disable hotspot, tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks” in “Settings”, and turn off “Tethering & Mobile Hotspot”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: To improve battery life in the long run, you can try changing the sync settings of your phone / apps / accounts. By syncing less data / less often, you can increase battery efficiency.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts”
  4. Select an account type
  5. Clear the available / desired sync options to disable them

Switch from 4G to 2G:

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
  4. Select “2G”

Minimize the Use of Third Party Applications:

NOTE: Some of the third party applications on your phone might affect the battery performance even if you don’t use them – assuming that the apps run background processes regularly. As such you might be able to improve battery life by disabling or removing unused third party apps

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “Apps” under “Device”
  3. Go to “Downloaded”
  4. Select the desired app and tap “Disable” / “Force Stop”
  5. To completely remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall” > “OK”
